We usually try not to give to much away here, but the Stallion on the front of the label is a direct reference to the Stori vineyard and the horses they keep on the property. It’s a lovely vineyard, located in the heart of the Green Valley Appellation, boasting Goldridge soils and all planted to Dijon Selection 115. The canopy is vigorous, and as such produces beautiful fruit that carries a little bit of weight and just the right amount of swagger.
The 2020 growing season was a wild one, and the devastating fires in Northern California came swiftly, violently, and much too early. Unfortunately, we chose to not pick much fruit. Fortunately, the Stori Vineyard was one of few vineyards that ripens early, and luck was on our side this year - we picked this fruit the day before the fires broke out. A rare win during the 2020 harvest.
Bright raspberry, clove, wet stone, bing cherry, and hints of pine needle flood the aromatics. The palate is a burst of bright cherry, with structure establishing a reliable perimeter around the fruit. Secondary notes of forest floor and chocolate appear, albeit subtlety. The finish is soft, elegant, and carries more bright fruit.
