The 2021 vintage was very much a year of change. We chose six new vineyards for the Vineyard Designate Series, and the Sexton Vineyard was the only vineyard we kept in the lineup. It’s a testament to the farming, the terroir, clone selection, and ultimately the incredible fruit we source from this special place.
The 2021 combines aromatics of pomegranate, winter spices, sleet, and fresh berry. We don’t believe there is a more elegant and smooth wine in our lineup, with tannins that start a bit cranky but eventually feel like jumping into eight hundred thread count sheets. Bright strawberry, clove, and fungi all show up on the palate, and provide support to the mouthfeel. The finish is pretty and balanced, with just the right amount of acidity working harmoniously with raspberry and cherry fruit notes.
