This inaugural Lipton Vineyard white wine was fermented on its skins for over three weeks, giving it its pretty orangish hue. At first sniff, the Gewürztraminer provides the aromatics, with notes of spice and pungent flower pushing front and center. Other aromatic notes include orange peel, green apple, wet stone, and Key lime. Its figure is medium to plus-sized, but the skin ferment creates a pleasant tannic backdrop to support the fairly stout mid-palate. The finish is crisp green apple and can open a bit pushy, mostly due to its young age and the additional tannin hungover from the mid-palate. However, this wine becomes a chameleon based on its temperature. If served at room temperature (similar to red wine), the acidity loosens, creating a rather nice length. Of course, you should drink it any way you’d like, but we’d suggest trying it at room temperature first to see what you think.
