The Ektimo Vineyard is ideally situated in the heart of the Green Valley Appellation within the Russian River Valley. The vineyard boasts the classic sandy soils, a major contributor of what make this area so special for grape growing. Fruit is planted to a few different clones, and we are lucky enough to source all of them. Yields here are low, another staple of the VML fruit procurement process. Small berries lend to further concentration, and the result is super balanced, fruit forward Pinot Noir.
Fermented at 15% whole cluster, the inaugural vintage of the Ektimo vineyard designate series is a welcome addition to the VML Pinot Noir lineup. This wine is classic Russian River Valley, with a nose of ripe cherry, sandalwood, and petrichor. The palate carries medium weight, more cherry notes, and silky tannins – a telling characteristic of the Green Valley. The finish pushes softly through the mid palate, lengthened with acidity and pretty fruit.
