Overall, the 2017 Cresta Ridge Pinot is a powerful and masculine wine. There are spicy notes on both the aromatics and palate, but is balanced by incredible depth and sweet fruit notes. There is a bit of bacon fat and graham cracker on the nose - inspired by oak- and expressions of Santa Rosa plum fruit. The palate is soft and juicy, with beautiful concentration, and layer after layer is a relentless assault of spice and fruit. This wine is built to age, and will be even more complex (not to mention delicious) in the next 5-10 years.
